Ash Wednesday, No Fat Tuesday here

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the 40 day Lenten period. This is a time of fasting & repentance. Ashes are mixed with oil and used to draw a cross of the forehead. This is regarded as a symbol of penance. Ashes are used in this manner in the Bible by Job and Daniel. The ashes also remind of of the day when we will stand before God and be judged.

Retreat to the wilderness with Jesus.

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

You can make a difference!!

Yes, you can....No matter what the situation, you can make a difference in the life of another. Sometimes it is to offer a helping hand, sometimes a simple smile to a lonely person, kind words, good works. You can make a difference!

Deny the Holocaust...How could he?

My thoughts on David Irving.......
A person who would deny the holocaust is a dangerous person indeed. He has authored books on the subject and makes false claims. He reports these false claims as history. In my opinion, this is not freedom of speech. Rather, I would say it is fraud. It is my belief that fraud is a punishable crime. Therefore, his sentence is just. He should take his punishment, ask forgiveness, then the hard part...be forgiven.

Thoughts on depression

I think that people use the word depressed too casually. I believe this is the reason people don't understand the magnitude of depression. Depression is not the "blues." It is far more than that, and runs deeper than most people can imagine. You can't just "snap out of it" or "pull yourself up by your bootstraps."

Depression is not a character flaw, it is not being lazy, it is not an excuse to get out of daily obligations. It is as debilitating as any other major disease. Medication is not magic. Taking antidepressants does not make the conditions go away. In fact, it can take a long time to find medication which works to any extent at all.

In the meantime, there is suffering, crying, a deep feeling of sadness, lack of sleep, too much sleep, exhaustion feelings of worthlessness, and hopelessness. Life seems meaninglessness, everything seems pointless.

Then...Someone reads my blog. I have made contact with another.

Is this pointless? You tell me.

The Plan

One has a plan for life. It is amazing how the plan changes. You love someone and then they are taken away. The Lord has plans for us and we must follow it. It is hard sometimes but it must be that way. We should not stray from the Lord & his plan. Of course, when we do, he is most forgiving and welcomes us back. Lord....I am back.

It's been a long day............

Get up, hurry up. Go to work, high strung co-workers, drama kings & queens .....
Chill, chill...take a chill pill
Everyone complains, everyone wants to be the the top dog.
It's all about me, me, me and me.
Then the bipolar employee has an episode.
That was fun,
Time to go home,
Love my job.....
Good bye....

Cartoons or Reality

The manner in which the cartoons are protested only gives validity to the cartoons.
I prefer to pray for those that insult my religion.

Cartoons as an excuse

These cartoons of Mohammed are not really the reason for the rioting and violence. They are an excuse.

Some try to excuse this behavior...Because Muslims are "offended." So, it appears that it is a crime to offend Muslims. I am a Christian, but it is okay to offend Christians. I am often offended by words generalized about Christians from time to time. Should I be resorting to violence over it? Why not...Seems to be justified. Oh...That's right...Only for Muslims.

The religion is out of control. Cartoons incite them. They were not incited by 9-11, not incited by the murder of school children and their parents, not offended by beheadings and not up in arms over bombings and killing of innocent people. But, let someone draw a cartoon of this so-called "prophet" and they start burning embassies and looking for people to kidnap or murder. Maybe next time someone makes an offensive statement to me about Catholics I should go on a killing and bombing rampage. Oh.......I am sorry, I forgot, its okay to offend Christians!

A religion that says you must either convert, kill or enslave those who don't believe as you is not compatible with our way of life and the liberties that we hold dear. So, wake up...You idiots who are making excuses because cartoons have offended the Muslims. Wake up and see the truth.....face the facts.

Things change

Yes they do.....

The President used to ride in a convertible
I once was able to walk right up to the gate at the White house
I used to walk out to the airport gate with my guest
I used to eat peanuts on the plane

The President now rides in a bulletproof limo
The White House must be protected by a barricade
I say goodbye to all my guest at the airport drop off
No peanuts on the plane, too many allergies

Coming Home

"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulder and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."
Luke 15:4-7
